Breathe Better & Enjoy a Higher Quality of Life!

Here at Nuclear Care Partners, we specialize in caring for former nuclear weapons and uranium workers. Over the years, we have seen a great need for specialized programs within the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA), so we created BreatheBetter – A Respiratory Care Program.

Of the major diagnoses we commonly see in former atomic workers, nearly 40% are lung-related. If you are a former atomic worker battling any of the following diseases, then this program may be right for you!

  • COPD
  • Chronic Asthma
  • Chronic Beryllium Disease
  • Silicosis
  • Asbestosis
  • Emphysema
  • Pulmonary Fibrosis
  • Sarcoidosis
  • Pneumoconiosis
  • Pleural Plaques

About the Program

This free program serves to improve your breathing and will guide you through individualized interventions unique to your health needs. By signing up for BreatheBetter – A Respiratory Care Program, you will:

  • Receive education on your specific disease and disease process.
  • Learn from a BreatheBetter nurse and practice a variety of lung exercises to help with your breathing.
  • Find comfort in knowing that we will advocate for you and your lung health needs to your physician(s).
  • And learn how to properly use and care for your inhalers, concentrators, and other medications and devices.

Patti Kendall, Nuclear Care Partners’ Vice President of Clinical Compliance states, “We created this program to help former workers better manage their respiratory conditions with the goal of improving their breathing through individualized interventions and exercises unique to their needs. Being able to help our atomic heroes breathe better is just one small step we are taking to give them the superior care they deserve.”

Shonda Teeples, a Registered Nurse with Nuclear Care Partners, explains, “As a nurse who sees many patients with lung disease, this program offers education, supervision, tips, and advice to help people with pulmonary conditions manage their symptoms, complications, oxygen and medications, reduce hospitalizations and—most importantly—breathe better and improve their quality of life.”
